CAN WEST BROM BEAT THE DROP

The question on the mind of West Brom fans is if they can beat the drop in the Premier League this season after the big win over fellow relegation candidates Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend. West Brom were 11 points adrift of safety with 13 games to play in the league before the weekend’s set of games but they have been able to give themselves a fighting chance of staying up after the slim and fortunate victory over the Seagulls on Saturday. The win ensured that the Baggies are now nine points off the safety mark in the Premier League.

The win over Brighton and Hove Albion was a nervy one for West Brom fans as the players fought for the three points to ensure that new manager Sam Allardyce recorded his first victory since taking charge of the team towards the end of last year. Sam Allardyce replaced SlavenBilic as the West Brom shortly after the Croatian tactician led the Baggies to a 1-1 draw at the home of Manchester City, the current Premier League leaders.

Bilic says West Brom’s victory over Sheffield United is worth more than three points

West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has said that the club’s recent victory over Sheffield United is worth more than three points and can be considered as a six-pointer. The Baggies and Blades were eyeing their maiden Premier League win of the season on Sunday and the former prevailed with a slender 1-0 victory at the Hawthorns.


On-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher made the difference for the Baggies with a 13th-minute goal and that was sufficient to give them the elusive win. However, the result could have different on another day, given Rhian Brewster and Lys Mousset were guilty of squandering golden chances to put Sheffield level in stoppage time. LA GALAXY IN TALKS TO SIGN THIS WEST BROM PLAYER

According to the reports coming from the Daily Mail, LA Galaxy are currently in negotiation talks with West Bromwich Albion over the transfer of 27-year-old goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from the Premier League to the MLS. Bond is yet to appear for West Brom in the Premier League this season after the club signed David Button to deputies for the current first-choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.


And now, Bond will see this move as an opportunity to escape from the lack of game time nightmare he is currently having at the Hawthorns. The Baggies have also moved ahead to secure the signing of Bond’s replacement as they have lined up former Liverpool and Wolves goalkeeper Andy Lonegeran who they want to become the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.

AGUERO SET FOR WEST BROM RETURN

 

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is in line to make his return for the Premier League game with struggling West Brom after the Argentine international returned to training on Monday just in timefor him to feature against the Baggies.


The Citizens take on West Brom at home with the hope of getting the win that would draw them closer to the top of the table especially with the top two teams, namely Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in action on Wednesday night.

West Broom Lost to Tottenham and Moves Becomes 18th

 

It was a crucial match between West Brom and Tottenham Hotspurs where Tottenham beat their opponents with a result of 1 goal to nil. The goal scored by Harry Kane was a milestone goal for him as he touched the English Legend Wayne Rooney in terms of the highest number of goals for a particular club in all sorts of competitive matches. With this win, Tottenham has moved to 2nd place with 17 points in the points table. They have won 5 matches while having lost 1 and drawn two of their 8 matches so far. On the other hand, West Broom has only managed to draw three matches so far out of their 8 clashes and has only scored 3 points from these matches.


The West Broom Coach tried to put the best team inside the ground. The players were almost successful to stop the Tottenham Hotspurs strikers from scoring goals.

Setien pleased with Barcelona’s hard-fought win over Real Sociedad

Barcelona manager Quique Setien has expressed his pleasure after the Blaugrana registered a slender 1-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou. The Catalan giants suffered a 2-0 defeat in the El Clasico and it appeared that they could go winless for the second league game on the spin before Lionel Messi converted from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.


Of course, the club need assistance from the VAR to find the back of the net but Setien was pleased with the mental strength shown by the team, he told: “We knew it was going to be a tremendously complicated game. They had six straight wins, one at the Bernabeu, and are in the final of the cup. Apart from in some phases, the game was controlled. We did have difficult times but we also created danger. We have won thanks to the VAR. From the bench, I did not see it as it was too far away. How I see it is that we are well and strong mentally, that is what interests me.”

Slaven Bilic pleased with really good week for West Brom

West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has been pleased with an exciting week where the Baggies have maintained their dominance at the top of the Championship. The west Midlands outfit returned from the international break with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday and they have followed it up with a 4-1 thumping of Bristol City.

As a result, they remain at the top of the standings with a two-point advantage over Leeds United and Bilic is delighted with the hard work done by the players through the past few games, he told the club’s official website: “It’s been a really good week. I think we’ve deserved it. We also have to appreciate it, and to know what led us to this good week – hours and hours of training – and the only way we can have another week like this is basically following a very simple formula. Austin says a phone call from Slaven Bilic made him join West Brom

West Bromwich Albion striker Charlie Austin has revealed that a personal chat with Slaven Bilic convinced him to join the Baggies from Southampton before the summer transfer deadline. Austin had spent the past three-and-a-half years with the Saints but he chose to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere after falling out-of-favour under Ralph Hasenhuttl.


In an interview with the Last Word Podcast, Austin talked about the Bilic phone call and said that he was convinced by the approach from the former West Ham United boss, he told: “He said ‘Charlie how are you? We scored so many goals last year, so many balls in the box. I’m not going to change anything about you, I want you to come here, be my number nine and score me loads of goals like you have done in your career. He said ‘I’ll get the service from the lads to you, and we’re going to have a good season together. I must’ve been on the phone two minutes and I put the phone down and said to my wife – ‘I’m going to do it’. do it, are we not?”

Slaven Bilic explains Charlie Austin’s absence against Derby County

West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has said that he did not want to risk Charlie Austin against Derby County amid concerns over the striker’s fitness. The former Southampton striker is regarded as the prime striker for the Baggies but he was left on the bench for the entirety of the Championship clash against the Rams.
